From 60-Hour Weeks to 7-Figure Success: The Unfiltered Story of Building a Real Business Online
Podcast Episode: From 60 Hour Weeks to 7 Figure Success: The Unfiltered Story of Meghan’s Digital Revolution
Let me tell you about Megan – a woman who was working 60+ hours a week between two jobs, living with her dad because she couldn’t afford to move out, drowning in debt, and feeling like there was literally no way out of her situation.
Fast forward two years, and she’s built a million-dollar online business. But here’s the kicker – she didn’t do it with perfect content, a glam squad, or some secret formula. She did it by being authentically, unapologetically herself on camera.
If you’ve been told you need to be polished and perfect to succeed online, Megan’s story is about to blow that myth out of the water.
Two years ago, Megan was living what I call “survival mode hell.” She was managing a spin studio and nannying, working 15-18 hours away from home every day when you factor in commutes. She was so burnt out that she described feeling like “if this goes on any longer, there’s not gonna be a way out.”
“My financial situation was so bad and I felt like I’m never gonna have a family. I’m never gonna have a house. I’m never gonna be debt free,” Megan told me. “It was just never gonna be, never gonna be, never gonna be.”
Sound familiar? That’s the reality for millions of people right now – working their asses off but still feeling like they’re getting nowhere.
Before finding her path, Megan tried everything. And I mean everything:
This is the part of entrepreneurship nobody talks about – the graveyard of failed attempts that most successful people have behind them.
Then Megan saw something that changed her perspective forever: a mom claiming she made $50,000 in one week through affiliate marketing.
“That amount of money in a week was so absurd to me that I was like, this has to be a sick joke. And if it’s not, I need to find a way to do this,” she said.
So she did what any determined person would do – she bought every course she could find. The $7 course, Full Stack Marketer, Commission Hero, all of them. Even though she didn’t have the money, because she knew that if this was real, it was life-changing.
Here’s what made Megan different from everyone else trying to break into the “make money online” space: she showed up with radical honesty.
Instead of pretending she had it all figured out, her messaging was literally: “Listen, I haven’t figured this out. I don’t know what I’m doing, but here we are. I’m giving it a go. Follow me if you want to see if this works or not.”
That authenticity was her secret weapon.
While everyone else was creating perfectly curated content with ring lights and scripts, Megan was showing up in sweatpants, talking directly to her camera like she was having coffee with a friend.
“All you literally have to do is show up as yourself,” Megan explained. “The power in that, in your ability to build connection and evoke emotion and create a community is just unmatched.”
She’s built her entire following on talking head videos – just her, a camera, and raw conversation. No hashtag strategies, no posting five times a day, no complicated content calendars.
“You simply can just set a camera down, have a conversation, post a video, and that is it. It’s so simple, it’s actually stupid.”
When I asked Megan about the correlation between mindset and building a business online, she didn’t hesitate: “That is the key to success, quite literally.”
But here’s what she means by the right mindset. It’s not positive thinking or manifestation. It’s having an “I don’t give a fuck” attitude about obstacles:
One of the most powerful parts of our conversation was when Megan talked about dealing with unsupportive people in your life.
“If you have somebody who doesn’t support you or who is challenging you or your ability, if it’s your spouse, if it’s your family, if it’s your sister, your brother, fuck them. Do it anyway,” she said.
“Sometimes you need to be your own number one fan. And those people will come around… a year, two years, three years, five years later and say, ‘Wow, how did you do it?’ And now you want to know.”
As Megan’s business grew, she realized something important: she didn’t want to just teach people how to make money online. She wanted to help people build authentic brands and businesses around topics they actually cared about.
That’s when she created her course “Confidently Social” – focused on helping people build their brand online without all the BS rules everyone else was preaching.
“You could quite literally build a business online and sell shit online off of anything. Whether that’s fitness, whether that’s relationships, whether that’s potty training, whether that’s nutrition, whether that’s crocheting, whether that’s DIY.”
Megan’s not selling you a pipe dream. When I asked what she wishes she could tell her past self, her answer was brutal: “You’re in it for the long haul. Buckle up.”
“It’s going to challenge you in ways that you did not even know existed. You quite literally are going to be challenged and tested and pushed in ways you didn’t know existed, but it’s going to make you stronger for it.”
If there’s one thing to take away from Megan’s story, it’s this: your authenticity is your competitive advantage.
In a world full of perfectly curated content and people pretending they have it all figured out, the person who shows up as themselves – messy, imperfect, and real – is the one who wins.
You don’t need:
You just need to start talking. Set up your phone like you’re having coffee with someone and have a conversation.
Megan’s advice is simple: “Just start talking. Have a chat and start posting on social media. Start talking about whatever it is that you want to talk about.”
Stop waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect setup, or the perfect plan. Start where you are, with what you have, being exactly who you are.
Because here’s the truth: while you’re sitting there trying to perfect your strategy, someone like Megan is out there building the exact business you’re dreaming about by simply being authentic.
The only difference between them and you? They started.
Building a successful online business isn’t about having the perfect content or following all the “rules.” It’s about showing up consistently as yourself, serving your audience authentically, and being willing to push through the challenges that will inevitably come.
Megan went from working 60+ hours a week just to survive to building a million-dollar business in two years. Not because she’s special or had some secret advantage, but because she was willing to be herself in a world full of people trying to be someone else.
Your authenticity isn’t a liability – it’s your superpower. The question is: are you ready to use it?
